Ability to perform safe urinary catheterization is an essential skill for all doctors, nurses and technicians. It may be required in elective as well as in all emergent situations. If not done properly, it can cause urethral injury, bleeding, false passage formation and even urethral rupture. It is a skill that has to be understood well before its actual performance.
